We have a plenty of interesting Rogue customers with amazing stories and adventures – here is an interesting story about Anton van Niekerk from Perfect Directions, a film maker & photographer that is involved in an interesting Leopard conservation project – http://www.leopard.perfectdirections.co.za
Anton van Niekerk
“We started filming a documentary for Leopard conservation in 2009. It was, and is, still self funded. We filmed the first section and realised the story is bigger and more complex than we thought and thus decided to make a series of three documentaries and not just one. We have finished all the filming and are now editing the three. Either way, we are very excited by the story we have and the solutions for farmers and land-owners to be able to have apex predators on their land at low, to no risk.”
Anton has graciously shared the following galleries with us showing his Rogue gear along his amazing film making documentary project.
Filming the Panthera Mun Ya Wana Leopard project at Phinda & uMkhuze.
Was a young African Rock Python that we found in a dry dam bed and we moved to film better.
Filming the Lajuma Leopard Project in the Soutpansberg. This project centered around the work done by EWT with landowners and farmers to help manage their livestock to prevent losses due to predators. Over 96% successful.

Filming Leopard conservation work in Nambia in Erindi at at Namibrand reserve.
African Grass Owl research with the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) in the GEKCO conservancy (I am the Secretary and do biodiversity studies). These Owls are endangered and the research studies their success in breeding so close to urban and per-urban environments. The key to the research is also photographing the Owls to determine age and identification of individuals as they are now being tagged on their legs and ringed. Canon supports the project through loaning me cameras and lenses as part of their Canon Professional Services (CPS) program.
Getting caught in a downpour at Mabula Game Reserve on a hike. The hat kept its shape.
